Doha:

Your flute decorates your sweet hands, and your body is like a dark cloud.

Your red lips are like the Bimba fruit, and you wear a beautiful yellow robe.

Hail to the enchanting Krishna, the king of my heart.

Bestow your grace, son of the Sun, and protect your devotees' honor.

Chaupai:

Hail, Yadunandan! Hail, the one worshipped by the world!

Hail, the son of Vasudeva and Devaki!

Hail to Yashoda’s son, Nanda's beloved!

Hail to you, who shines like a star for devotees!

Hail to the playful, snake-conquering Krishna!

O Krishna Kanhaiya, protector of cows!

You held Govardhan on your little finger,

Come and remove the sufferings of the poor.

Your sweet flute adorns your lips,

Please fulfill my heart’s desires.

Come again, O Hari, and taste the butter,

Today, protect the honor of Bharat.

Your rounded cheeks, reddish chin,

With your gentle, enchanting smile, you win hearts.

With your lotus-like eyes and vast beauty,

Your peacock crown and Vaijayanti garland dazzle.

Your earrings gleam, and your yellow robe shines,

A waist chain jingles around your waist.

Your beautiful blue form glows like a lotus,

Seeing your divine beauty, gods, sages, and men are enchanted.

With a tilak on your forehead and curly locks,

O Krishna, the flute bearer, please come!

You saved Putana by drinking her milk,

You defeated demons like Aghasura and Bakasura.

When the forest burned with flames,

It cooled down as Nandalala watched.

When Indra, the king of gods, got angry at Braj,

And poured heavy rains, trying to flood it.

As the water rose, Braj was drowning,

But you lifted Govardhan and saved everyone.

Seeing Yashoda’s confusion,

She saw the entire universe in your mouth.

The wicked Kansa caused much havoc,

When he asked for a million lotus flowers.

You defeated the serpent Kaliya,

Leaving your footprints and freeing everyone from fear.

You danced with the Gopis,

Fulfilling their every desire.

Many great demons were slain by you,

You grabbed Kansa by his hair and killed him.

You freed your parents from captivity,

Restoring Ugrasena to the throne.

You brought back the six dead sons of Mother Earth,

And removed the sorrow of Mother Devaki.

You vanquished demons like Bhaumasura and Mura,

Bringing back thousands of princesses.

You tore the Trinavarta demon to pieces,

And killed Jarasandha, the demon king.

You destroyed demons like Bakasura,

And relieved your devotees of their suffering.

You removed the misery of poor Sudama,

Taking the three handfuls of rice he offered.

You asked for the humble food at Vidura's house,

But rejected the luxurious offerings of Duryodhana.

You valued the greatness of love,

Such is Shyam, the benefactor of the humble.

You guided Arjuna’s chariot in the Mahabharata,

Holding the wheel, you showed unmatched power.

You gave the wisdom of the Gita,

And poured divine nectar into the hearts of devotees.

Meera was so intoxicated by you,

She drank poison while clapping her hands.

When Rana sent a basket of snakes,

You turned them into sacred Shaligram stones.

You displayed your divine illusion to Brahma,

Removing all doubts from his heart.

When Shishupala insulted you,

He was immediately liberated from the cycle of life and death.

When Draupadi called for help,

You protected her honor at once.

Her sari grew longer and longer,

While the faces of her enemies turned black with defeat.

Such is the Lord Krishna,

Who rescues those drowning in the whirlpool of life.

With great hope in my heart, O Sundardas,

Please cast your merciful glance on me, O Banwari!
